Iran positive about JCPOA Joint Commission meeting

TEHRAN, May 25 (MNA) – After today’s talks between E3 + 2 and Iran in Vienna, Iranian negotiator said that he was positive as the remaining participants in the JCPOA shared a united stance on preserving the deal.

The 9th meeting of the JCPOA commission of the JCPOA was held in Vienna’s Cobourg Hotel nearly two weeks after US unilateral withdrawal from the deal. In addition to Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minster for Political Affairs Seyed Abbas Araghchi and his counterparts from Europe as well as China and Russia, the IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano was also present in the meeting, chaired by Secretary General of the European External Action Service (EEAS) Helga Schmid.

Aragchi said after the meeting that the remaining signatories to the nuclear deal including the UK, Germany and France were determined to preserve the deal after the US exit.

He said that the talks will go on at expert level as well as ministerial level to ensure Iran’s interests in the deal.

The Iranian negotiator also called on Europe to offer a package as the first step in the short time, and then give Iran legal and political commitments to guarantee Iran’s interests.

The head of the Iranian delegation went on to stress that Tehran needs to receive guarantees.
